Land Code Ch. 12, § 4 — tenant's notice period

What does it mean?

Moving out requires planning. Start by terminating your lease in writing — the notice period is usually three calendar months for tenants, counted from the end of the month. During the notice period, you must continue paying rent and keeping the apartment in good condition.

Before leaving the apartment, you must carry out a move-out cleaning according to the landlord's requirements, participate in a move-out inspection, and return all keys. Don't forget to cancel your electricity contract and broadband, order mail forwarding through Postnord, and report your new address to Skatteverket. You may be liable for any damage beyond normal wear and tear.
